GPA has won this competition in 2005. The bridge is the main feature of the bid, the most extraordinary element as a symbol and icon. The bridge transforms the space in which it is located, creating a different landscape, connecting spaces apart from each other overlapping the river. The two bridges required by the competition’s documents have very dissimilar features: the “Roseto” Bridge is orthogonal to the river bed; the “Rosano” Bridge overlaps the river with an oblique angle, which inevitably increases the span of the bridge. The idea is to connect the street and the two bridges to a single route, in order to avoid the alternation “street-bridge-street-bridge…” but considering the street and bridges all in one. The challenge is to create a linear infrastructure with a quality physiognomy harmonizing with the surrounding countryside.
