High-speed Florence bypass, engineering and innovation
Today the GPA team, thanks to the “talking construction sites” initiative, had the pleasure of visiting the construction site of the High-speed Florence bypass.
A unique experience to admire up close the evolution of a highly complex engineering work that will certainly revolutionize the future and face of the city of Florence.
Accompanied by the team of experts following the project, the visit allowed us to appreciate the integration between technological innovation and architectural design.
The project involves the construction of a new underground infrastructure, with two parallel tunnels located at an average depth of approximately 20 m below the surface and a new railway station, designed by Foster + partners and Ove Arup & Partners, approximately 450 meters long and 50 meters wide, which will have an extension of approximately 45 thousand square meters and will be located up to 25 meters below street level, with a glass roof supported by a steel structure, an architectural element of greater importance, which will rise approximately 18 meters in height.
Thanks to all the technical staff of the initiative and to all the professionals and workers who passionately told us about this project which we can’t wait to see completed!
