The Forest of Music
On November 3, 2022 at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Milan the Press Conference was held during which the winning project of the International Design Competition called “Il Bosco della Musica” was presented, aimed at building an open and sustainable campus for the famous Milanese musical institution, which will thus double its spaces and will also settle in Rogoredo, in the south-eastern outskirts of the Lombard capital.
The competition ended with the victory of the team led by the Settanta7 studio, which will take care of the architectural design, GPA Partners which will take care of the structural design and the Stain Engineering studio which, instead, is entrusted with the plant design. The acoustic aspects will be taken care of by the architect. Alessia Griginis.
The winning project aims to achieve “an urban regeneration that passes from a synergistic approach between beauty and effectiveness and that sees in the synthesis between a poetic image, like autumn leaves circling in the wind, and an avant-garde design the final goal of the project itself”, said architect Lorenzo Albai.
The Milanese Conservatory will therefore be equipped with a multifunctional structure with classrooms, laboratories, an auditorium, student residences, refreshment places, inserted in a vast green area accessible to all. The intervention program involves the redevelopment of the building ‘Ex Chimica’, designed by Enrico Agostino Griffini and considered the last memory of Rogoredo’s industrial past. Shape, volumes and external elevations of this building will be preserved. Not only that: its architectural language will be taken up and “updated” in the new grafts of the complex, with particular regard to the auditorium and the main squares of the campus.
